It exploded from the size of a small dog to the size of a man, and what was worse, it grew eyes, large as saucer plates, and it stood on two legs and had opposable thumbs. It spoke in grunts and moans, but it was developing intelligence. The thing in the rafters fell down on top of the Elf. It was the size of a rat, and it wielded an iron needle like a sword.
