Excalibur is the legendary "Sword of the Stone," which was set in by the wizard Merlin, and taken out by King Arthur. Any wielder is nearly unbeatable, and it will blast beams of light, and create shields for anyone, but it reserves its true power for the pure-hearted. It can literately bend light at the wielder's will.)
