"A human? Really?" I smiled casually knowing she wasn't telling the truth. "You just seem beyond average you know?" I turned my head slightly and noticed a girl was listening, pretty sure she was an elf. I opened my mouth to spit a sarcastic phrase at her then stopped. I didn't want Amy to think of me in a bad way, because maybe if I became her friend. She'd tell me all her secrets.

I turned and saw a boy across the class. His name was Josiah and he was the only one who knew what I was going through, after all phoenix's were very rare. My sister was just an adopted sister, a shifter but shes all I have. Josiah although was unknown. He didn't speak and everyone knew he wasn't a human but then what was he? He had these mesmerizing eyes, I only remember from the day he saved my life when a prank had gone wrong. It was very hard to remember that day. Boom! A thump brought me back to my senses and I looked up at the teacher.
