There are many 'centers' with people in them as well. The paths all have a different number on the ground in front of them. A small phrase is next to each of the numbers.
One: There is only one path to freedom, but multiple to others.
Two: Many are terrors, but two are not.
Three: Three friends lead to three paths
Four: Four enemies wander the halls, but perhaps there are more.
Five: A path is revealed, to friends of five
Six: Six is the number of hell and Satan, but there is always light in any dark.
Seven: A lucky number perhaps, but of which type of luck?
Eight: Eight friends might benefit, but perhaps not.
Nine: Nine is the last.
What these may mean isn't quite known, but they may or may not be the right paths. Which leads where, where you go, you'll have to find out.

(Two is Most likely filled with traps and such, to scare you away from the path.)
(Three is forcing you to go alone, dividing from your three friends. Who has the safest path, we do not know.)
(Four is going to be basically a "Monster hallway". No guarantee the monsters will be easy, they could be like the phantom guardians from phantom hourglass.)
(Five requires five people, and most likely only one will escape, unless he who finds it shows the others the way.)
(Six is going to send you through hell basically, with the spawn of satan, requiring the utmost diligence and instinct to survive. There is one path, far into this section of the maze, to escape.)
(Seven is going to require pure luck to escape. Karma could be one heck of a bitch here.)
(Eight will require 8 people, but we cannot guarantee all eight will escape.)
(Nine Shall be the final battle, to escape.)
