| It all started a long long time ago, in 60 B.C.E.(Before he Common Era, mind you). A diamond, small, yet ever so powerful came into existence. Though it was ready to share the powers with the humans. It was located right where the equator and the international dateline met. 200 Feet below the water surface. In the year 1670, it exploded. No questions asked. Though the rupture was powerful, and the power was sent shooting through the entire world. This is the harder part to explain. You see, the power was sent to specific places. Nine in total. They are, The Bermuda Triangle, Easter Island, The U.S. State of Wisconsin, Southern Ireland, Iceland, South East Cuba, A Small bit of Australia, Egypt, and last but not least, Hawaii. There was 10,000 people chosen. Though nobody knew of the diamond, and the diamond`s power was so great, only 25 survived.
Moving on, 13 of them 'rebelled'. They want to rule the world. They could`ve, but 12 protected the world. This is a consept of superheroes and supervillains, to make it clearer. And throughout generation, their power has grown.
Now, mairrage. When one of the 25 decide to marry, they must choose another one of the 25. No humans. Both sides agreed not to marry any human. And if tey do, they have a child. The bad part? One of the parents dies. If they have two, ten both die. If they have 3+, the children and parents are slaughtered. Or instead of slaughter, they touch the shard, and are relieved of their memory and power.
Powers. Now in 2012, it is simple for them to have at least 5 powers. That should be it?
Bases. They need to share hideouts. The evil 13 go places nobody goes, for example. The 12 live in apartments or condos. Their main idea is in the U.S, Bermuda, and fights are in Egypt. Poor places. ;(
Immorality is a given for each one, no need for that as a power. They get it at age 15.
