But things like yellow, orange, and purple don't really exist. Our retnas have 3 different types of cone cells, each suited for a certain color. One is for blue, one for green, one for red. There are no individual cells for yellow, purple, etc. The wavelength of yellow comes between the wavelengths of red and green. So when you see yellow, the cones in your retna for red and green are slightly activated. Like with purple, your blue and red cones are activated. So you're really seeing only green, red, and/or blue mixed together.
(I know this from watching a video in school. Lmao.)
